I don't hate anyone -- don't you just hate that?

I'm just too tired to hate anyone or anything anymore. I'm 53. There's been way too much of that for far too long.
Once, I hated Jr. High, onions, my ex-boyfriend. It was easy then and I didn't have to work at -- it all came so naturally. I hated Science class, too... right through College.
We were admonished NOT to hate by our parents, our friends, our religious leaders. Even our Government.
Somehow... that all changed in the 90s. Hate, fear, envy and greed was encouraged. It was promoted. It was GOOD.
Look where it's lead us? Democrats hate Republicans, Conservatives hate Liberals, Consumers hate goods. The only thing we all seem to like is Starbucks.
We H*A*T*E each other. We make enemies lists, we protest at private homes, we stick signs in our kids hands so they can hate, too.
I'm sick of it. I'm tired. I don't have time to waste on hating people I don't know for reasons that make no sense or won't matter tomorrow.
I refuse to hate the rich banker. Didn't he work hard for his money? I refuse to hate the truck driver. Doesn't he have a right to work? I refuse to demand that the wealthy couple down the street share their wealth with me. I didn't earn it, why should I ask them for it?
I discard and dismiss hate and envy of others just because they have more than me. I don't care. I don't want what THEY have. I want what I earn. I want to keep what I earn.
If I share, I do it because I want to do it. Not because someone hates the fact that I have it and they don't.
I watched the "Occupiers" demand a free education. Yet, they weren't occupying a classroom. They demanded jobs but weren't standing in an employment queue. They demanded wealth redistribution, but they weren't sharing theirs. Greed in one of it's many guises.
These same people, who spewed vitriol at bankers and businessmen, were sipping Mocha Lattes, tweeting, and posting pics from their iPhones and listening to Bruce Springsteen on the iPod.
So, it's okay if Steve Jobs and Springsteen are rich, but not Donald Trump? Frankly, I don't see a difference.
Hating the very people that make your life easier and more tolerable? Protesting because someone has more than you? To what end?
It's just hate to be hating. It's popular. And it's free.
I don't have time to waste on that.
Hey, I don't hate onions anymore. Let's just go grab a pizza. I'll even pay for it.
Never grow a wishbone, Daughter, where your backbone ought to be.
