I Fell Into Reality Television
By Nancy Hadley on August 27, 2011
My very good friend, Diane, recommended Blog Her to me. We have known each other since we met on the set of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition (EMHE) season one. As this is my first post I wanted to introduce myself. I am a wife and mother of three children (ages 15, 11 and 9) and I currently work as Art Director or Production Designer for reality television design shows. One day I was doing interior design and art commissions out of my home and after sending an email to Ty Pennington I found myself working for EMHE. Strange and simple really. I brought to the table years of design, build and art experience. After having built permanent exhibits for Natural History museums, designed furniture, sculpted toys and designed and decorated countess interiors I was ready for the challenge of designing, building and installing on a tight time schedule. I worked with EMHE for 5 seasons leaving as the show's first Art Director. I followed up with Art Director for Kitchen Nightmares, Designer on Trading Spaces, Art Director for Fact or Faked, Production Designer on Tabatha's Salon Takeover and currently Bar Rescue. When I walked onto that first set in 2003 I never dreamed I was walking into a career. It was an honor to be part of EMHE at all let alone become a member of it's ground-floor family.
