I think New Orleans is a bit like this photo. She's still a bit out of shape since Katrina. I snagged this photo while in New Orleans during the summer. I am hoping that Gustav doesn't devastate the city, or for that matter, any other place along the fragile Louisiana coastline. It's hard to be 1712 miles away from my city! I love you, New Orleans.
With coastal erosion eating hundreds of acres of wetland every year, Louisiana is NOT ready for a Category 5 hurricane. Yeah, you got that right. Projections now say the hurricane will reach the top level of the scale, at 155 mph.
And the path is now called a "cone of uncertainty." What a name! Uncertainty is not the word I would have chosen. Maybe a cone of concern? A cone of anxiety? I don't know, but I certain that this storm is causing a lot of concern for the citizens of Lousiana. Our phobias and neuroses have not healed since Katrina, and this "cone of uncertainty" isn't helping one bit. Gustav! Go away!
