Icing On My Cake
Is that a Canadian Men's Gold Hockey Jersey I see? Why yes it is! Bawahahahahaha! What a wonderful way to end the legacy of Vancouver 2010...it's icing on my cake.
It took three whole days were me to get my voice back after all of the yelling and cheering I did during the men's gold hockey game of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games. With my butt firmly planted on my couch I watched as our boys claimed the gold thanks Sid the kid's sudden death overtime goal. Excuse me, I need a tissue.....
Anyways, as the games are behind us now and I can once again yell at my kids and husband (which is a sport itself I assure you) instead of the tv. But lo, the legacy of 2010 lives on with the making good on a bet between U.S. press secretary Robert Gibbs and Canadian spokesman Dimitri Soudas. The bet began during the women's hockey final resulting in Robert Gibbs wearing our Canadian jersey; and went on to a double or nothing bet for the men's hockey final. What a great ending to a perfect round of hockey, eh? The 2010 games showcased talent on both sides of the border with my American friends taking home a total of 37 medals and Canada trumping previous records held by a host country with a total of 14 gold medals. The friendly bet between Gibbs and Soudas was icing on the cake for me. Dimitri Soudas sums it for me perfectly:
"Good friends can make a bet for beers, or to wear each other's jerseys. That said, it's always a smart idea to bet on Canada."
