I am walking. No, I'm not quitting blogging. I am actually walking. You know, for exercise.
After a traumatic shopping experience last month involving a trip to
Lane Bryant I decided that it was time to get my act in gear and start
exercising again. At home I've been using our elliptical machine. I
hate it but I figure since I spent $1100 on the damn thing I had better
use it.
Of course once I began my earnest attempt to work out every day I
went on vacation. In fact I'm in Florida as I write this. I'm here for
a wedding and my parents don't have atreadmill or an elliptical. Then I realized wait a second, I'm in Florida. It is 71 degrees and sunny. The neighborhood my parents live in has nice wide sidewalks and I have my iPod here. So I went for a two mile walk.
It was lovely.
No kidding, I enjoyed my walk so much yesterday that this morning I
took a three mile walk. I feel fantastic and as a bonus some guys in a
moving truck honked and waved at me. Now, they weren't particularly
attractive and while it is cheesy and really... what is the word I'm looking for here? Oh, right,
stupid it somehow made me feel good. At this age and weight I don't get
hit on a lot except for by my husband and he has liked me for a long
time.
There are a lot of other pluses (or upside if you will) to walking. S.B. at Be Thrifty Like Us walks to save money on gas. If you have older kids it is an easy way to get the whole family moving.
It is spring. If you live in Florida it is practically summer. It is
beautiful. Go out there and go for a walk. I mean, feel free to run if
you are into that sort of thing, but get outside. It doesn't even feel
like work.
