Inkstagram: Interacting With Photos

Inkstagram is a third-party web application for one of my favourite iPhone apps, Instagram. It ties into the Instagram API and gives you a way to interact with your Instagram friends, photos and feed outside of the iPhone application. I love Instagram, but sometimes I want to share or discover photos outside of the app and at this time Instagram doesn’t offer any type of web interface. With Inkstagram, I can:

  • view my feed
  • view my own photos
  • comment on and like (♥) photos
  • search by user, hashtag and more
  • follow people
  • share images via Facebook, Twitter or any sharing service on AddThis

It has a nice, easy to use interface and an appealing design. The feed pages have three different size thumbnails to chose from, and the single image screen offers a nice full size view with the photo’s information including where it was taken and who likes it. The only thing that is missing is which filter is being used, which I personally would like to know.

All in all, it’s a great (free!) web service that lets you interact with your Instagram photos in a way you haven’t been able to before. If you like Instagram, I recommend checking outInkstagram.

Do you use Inkstagram / Instagram for all your photos or just the ones that you are comfortable sharing publicly?  If not all, what do you use for your more private photos (e.g., family photos) ?

When Instagram first came out, I loved and used it. But now, you can't add a subject line or a comment when you upload a photo. As far as i'm concerned, that makes it useless. Where did that function go, and is there some way to get it back?

Virginia DeBolt You can still add a comment when uploading your photo; perhaps try deleting and reinstalling the app? You won't lose any data, it's all stored by Instagram.Good luck!

Have you noticed we have launched a new "Album" feature today. It is still in soft launch. With the Album feature you can create your own hash tag albums. All photos tagged with a specific hash tag can be grouped in a Album and shared in- and out-side the Instagram community. Check it out if you have time and let us know what you think.

Inkstagram allows users to manage their Instagram feed via a PC or Mac in a more convenient way. Commenting becomes more easy using a keyboard. Viewing photos become more fun as you have different viewing modes.

Extra features are:

1) Share your public profile in- and outside the Instagram community. People do not need any account at any social networking platform. Check out: http://inkstagram.com/#/users/1396258.

2) Today we launched our Album feature that allows you to create and share hash tag albums. Now you can create sub-sets of your own photo feed and share them among your friends and family. You can also create an album of a topic of your interest like http://inkstagram.com/#/tag/911

On Instagram these two features are not available. I hope this give you a more ideas on the differences and how you could use www.inkstagram.com

Maegan Tintari No Instagram actually doesn't have any web functionality. For someone like me who spends most of their day in front of computer, Inkstagram is a great solution.
