Democrat Hillary Clinton and Republican Mike Huckabee hold narrow leads on their top rivals days before the state opens the presidential nominating race, according to a Reuters/C-SPAN/Zogby poll, while the Des Moines Register reports Barack Obama has widened his lead in Iowa along with the GOP's Huckabee.
Firedoglake writes, "There has been much gnashing of the new DMR poll that puts Obama at 32%, Hillary Clinton at 25% and Edwards at 24%. Everyone has an opinion but most people who voice problems with the poll do so based on the fact that they estimate 60% of the caucus goers will be first timers."
My Left Wing writes, "Might the race be too close to call, or is it all merely a manufactured media myth. We are told Hillary is ahead, or she was. Perhaps Edwards has the lead. Barack Obama is closing in, or was with the help of Oprah, maybe. Some skeptics say the throngs of fans want to touch a celebrity."

On the day she died, Benazir Bhutto planned to hand over to visiting U.S. lawmakers a report accusing Pakistan's intelligence services of a plot to rig parliamentary elections, sources close to the slain former Pakistani prime minister told CNN.
Bhutto was assassinated Thursday, hours before a scheduled meeting with Representative Patrick Kennedy, and Senator Arlen Specter. A top Bhutto aide who helped write the report showed a copy to CNN.
Cut to the Chase writes, "Considering how many American lawmakers have profitted from Bush-Cheney voting fraud and manipulation, would they have cared when she reported it?"
