I love the 4th of July -- it’s the perfect holiday. Combine a day off from work with yummy things to eat, drinks, and fireworks…it just doesn't get any better! I once made a red velvet flag cake (pictured) for my sister's July 4th pool party. Actually, I made two; the first one melted in the 100-degree, Southern California San Fernando Valley heat.

We also have a weird family tradition of playing the Jimi Hendrix version of "The Star Spangled Banner" really loud in the backyard. I'm sure the neighbors love us.

What about you? Do you have a favorite 4th of July celebration? Whether it's food, flags or fireworks, we'd like to hear about it on the Opinion Poll!

Love everything about the 4th!This year is really special, heading to the Cape for the final Shuttle launch. NASA will be using high speed digital cameras that my husband sells to record the launch. Very cool, flying out on the 4th to Orlando. Cheers!

Our town is the home of the oldest Independence Day Parade in the country - 226 years! We go every year. It's crazy - more than 100,000 people pour into our little town for the day. Luckily we live within walking distance of some of the best seats on the parade route. We go every year! We head into town early, bring snacks, set up our camp chairs, and have a great time.
