While I’m waiting for my toe nail polish to dry so I can finish my BlogHer ‘11 packing I just had to say something about the recent announcement that an animated Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood spinoff is coming to the PBS Kids lineup next fall. I am not at all sure this is a good thing. Apparently the new show is aimed at pre-schoolers and the series follows the (animated) children of the (puppet) characters from the original series…

Yeah… That last part is where they’ve lost me. Part of it’s a knee jerk reaction that might make me sound old and crotchety. Which is fine, really. Can I just ask, what the hell is wrong with puppets? And what exactly is the problem with a nice man who speaks to children like they’re not idiots?
