It's Beginning To Look a Bit Like Christmas

I've been working on this project for quite a while.  It was hard for me to choose the perfect pattern, and then I needed to select the perfect yarn.  Once they were together, I got working and the stocking came together pretty quickly (you know, in a world where one month is a pretty quick time to make a big sock), but there was another delay while I hid from duplicate stitching and its best friend end weaving.  It's done now though and I couldn't love the stocking more.

I think my favorite part is the picot edging on the top of the stocking.  I'm also pretty charmed by the little braided hanger, but I'm not sure how practical it will be.  I sewed it onto the stocking as securely as I could, but this stocking is seriously massive.  As in, it covers the entire mesh top of our drying rack, which I think is almost 2"x2".  We might need to forego my family's traditional stocking stuffers of apples, oranges, and nuts in favor of something a little lighter.  What toddler or child doesn't love a Christmas gift of origami or smallish balloons?

I'm probably kidding.
