Finally, the day that has consumed us for so long is here. Life can return to whatever passes for normal and the TV will spout no political advertising. The neverending election season, however, has not stopped the technology bloggers from coming up with great ideas and starting new blogs. Here are a few of note.

Shelly Rodriguez: Illustration | Sculpture | Life is the place where Shelly shares her art, sells her wares, gives away charming images and talks about life. She was schooled at the Ringling College of Art + Design in Florida. She puts that training to good use as a game artist. She worked on a series of games called Littlest Pet Shop from Hasbro. If you are interested in art and design and another clever Etsy seller, Shelly's blog is a great place to start.

Wired Pen caught my eye a few weeks back, and I'm finally getting around to mentioning it. This blog belongs to Kathy Gill, who teaches at the University of Washington in the Digital Media Program. Since it's election day, I must also mention that Kathy is responsible for the US Politics guide at about.com. When she's not out riding her motorcycle, she writes interesting tech commentary at Wired Pen, like Mobile Data Growing:

For the third quarter, Verizon reported a 42.5% increase in revenues from mobile data service. Wowza! The media company (it’s hard to think of them as a “phone” company) reported a 31% increase in third-quarter net income, not quite the same league as oil companies, but close.

Verizon customers sent or received more than 80 billion text messages; that’s a number that is hard to visualize, but recognize that the company has 71 million wireless customers.

Wonder how many of those text messages were related to the election? Quite a few, I'll bet.

Another new blog worth reading is A Blog Not Limited by Emily Lewis. Emily writes about web design, web standards, and semantics. She's posted some very impressive stuff in the short time she's been blogging. For example, Adding Social Media Links to ExpressionEngine Templates is not just a how-to, but also a treatise on social media in general, link sharing in particular, personal growth, and a dash of code for good measure. She concludes the article with

Though I'm a proponent of usability, I'm not entirely altruistic in this endeavor. Ultimately, I want to increase my exposure in my field of web design. And one of the primary ways to do this is to blog and promote that blogging.

I'm hoping that by offering links that encourage social sharing, I'm going to get more readers and build some credibility. Only time will tell how that turns out.

So my hope is that you'll head over there and share the love a bit with Emily with Digg or Delicious.

Now, if you haven't voted yet, get out there and vote.
