It's the Little Things

It's Monday, and I wanted to share a few things with you that made me really happy this weekend.
Here they are in no particular order.

1) I just found out that Gwyneth Paltrow is releasing her second cookbook in April. I am so excited and you can bet that I will be one of the first people in line to buy a copy. Last spring, Jim bought me a copy of her first cookbook, "My Father's Daughter", and it quickly became one of my most used and favorite cookbooks. If you don't own it, or if you haven't ever looked through it, I strongly urge you to do so.  I also strongly urge you to make the recipe for her father's world famous pancakes.  They are beyond delicious and have become a weekday staple in our house.
You can get the recipe for them here.

2) My nieces stayed the weekend with us and while I was cleaning up after they left, I found some homemade books they made while they were here. This is the one Jordyn, my oldest niece, wrote. It has two, totally awesome chapters, which is no surprise because chapter books are all the rage when you are almost nine. Don't you remember?

This is Jessica's homemade book. She is 7.  It made me laugh so hard I cried and I'm keeping it forever. Don't worry, the cat is found at the very end of the three page nail-biter.
3) Target makes amazing juice glasses for $1 each. I found them in the bargain bins when you first walk into the store, and I am obsessed with them. They are perfect for little hands, hold just the right amount of juice for toddlers, but also would look adorable on a brunch table set for adults.
