It's A Wrap!
......And just like in the twinkling of Santa's eye, Christmas has left the building for 2013. The radio stations have stopped holiday music and resumed pop, rap, AC and country and the kids have gone back to sports practice. All that prep and no lingering in the afterglow......sigh.
Well here at Seasoning Queen, I am busy prepping for NEXT Christmas. Yes, while my memory is clear, I am jotting down ideas of what I want to do in 2014. We have already started discussing whether we will even be home next Christmas. If not, I will do a fabulous Cocktail Supper before we leave town OR we will have added guests next year which means new dishes, more seating etc. Either way, I am looking forward to it!
Here's a few flashbacks from Christmas Day.
For the first time, we actually had breakfast on Christmas Day. I know this can be a big tradition for some families but we are wary of filling ourselves up for the big dinner we prepare so we have stayed away from big breakfasts. See the Breakfast Casserole recipe on the Recipe page.
Above you will see my wedding china which is called Satin Gown by Noritake. This china has proven timeless and classic for our family gatherings. This pattern never gets old. It looks traditional and modern all at the same time. Yesterday, we had nine for dinner but I only have eight plates. What did I do? Why improvise of course. A few days before Christmas I happened to cruise the aisles of one of my favorite discount stores -- Tuesday Morning. There were four packaged plates that were plain except for the small gold band going around the plate. They are the same size and color of my china. I made sure all of the adults had my Noritake and the children had the expendable china from Tuesday Morning. :)
Well 2014 is quickly approaching. It the coming days I will have a few more insights but I will also give you the pattern of how this blog is going to work and what you can expect.
