Acting Policy Team Lead, Division for Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
Janelle Gunn, MPH, RD, is a registered dietitian and the Acting Policy Team Lead in the Division for Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Janelle also coordinates CDC’s sodium reduction initiative, which includes managing activities with other federal agencies and national partners, providing guidance and assistance to grantees, and implementing a congressional mandate to work with food manufacturers and chain restaurants to lower sodium in the food supply and submit an annual progress report to Congress.
Janelle joined CDC in 2003 in the Public Health Prevention Service. She received a bachelor’s degree in nutrition and a master’s degree in public health with a focus on nutrition, both from the University of Minnesota.
