Job Interviews- how to deal with the tough questions.
Today I had signed up for a webinar on interviewing to help me with my job search. For the first time, I really enjoyed attending the webinar. Mostly, it was due to the active participation of the other members attending the webinar and partly because the topic is interesting, as people face different types of questions when attending an interview and the webinar was about how to deal with such questions and answer them in the best possible way. One of the participants told us that she was asked how many diapers does the city of Pennsylvania use in a day? A second participant said she was asked how many bricks were used in the Empire State Building. These questions do seem inappropriate, but the way you would answer it or deal with would tell the interviewer something about you.
I have learnt a lot from all the webinars I have attended so far and I plan to enroll for some more and make use of the services provided to me by my company, when I was laid off. In the morning, I had one more meeting with a recruiter and it was the normal -Tell me about yourself, where would you like to work? What are your expectations? Tell me about your strengths and weaknesses - sort of questions. After which I was given an assurance that they will try to find me something soon.
There was a shopping mall next to the recruiting office and I ended up shopping as there are still so many sales going on after Christmas and boxing day. I still feel like a fool due to the time I spent at the very same mall on boxing day, waiting in the lineups at the Cashier to buy a few things, which are still available at the same prices or cheaper. I have vowed that I will not go for Boxing day sales in future. How far, I keep up to it is another story. I love shopping and due to the good return policies here, I sometimes end up returning a lot of stuff which I buy, because I or someone else at home, does not like it.
I watched the Dragon's Den tonite and I am really amazed by the new ideas people come up with and how they make a good business out of it. This weekend, I am gong to attend a franchise show with my daughter and son in law. I might come home and want to start a business instead of looking for a job, who knows.
More tomorrow, till then Happy reading.
