This is a compensated review from BlogHer and Joe's Jeans.
You may recall an earlier post on my denim difficulties -- finding jeans that fit my big ol' bootie and thighs and are also the right length isn't easy, especially when I have a particular style in mind. So, when Joe's Jeans contacted me and asked if I'd be willing to review a pair of their jeans, I said, "Sure, why not?" Worst case scenario, I hate them and make a friend's day by giving them away, right?
Well, sorry friends, but you're not getting anything from me. In fact, you couldn't get these jeans away from me if you tried.
Since I know skinny jeans aren't my thing (see aforementioned bootie and thighs), I opted for The Socialite, which is a classic bootcut. Hey, if I'm getting swanky designer jeans, I want a style that's going to be around for a while, you know?
The first thing I noticed about them was the feel -- I've had expensive jeans before, but I've never owned jeans that felt so soft and yummy before even going through the wash. Once I put them on, however, there was even more to be happy about. They really are cut to fit and flatter -- they're a slightly lower rise than I normally wear, but there's no gapping in the waist or sagging in the crotch.
Plus, just check out the pockets! I'm big on details that are fun and interesting without looking like they belong on a teenybopper, and these deliver. Not only do they look sufficiently funky, but they're also flattering to the bum. Rock on.
The only downside? They range in price from around $150 to $190, and now, I might be hooked. I'm already planning my next pair -- maybe the high-rise Muse? Or perhaps the voluptous Honey. It's a tough call.
However, they are offering a friends and family discount from now until December 2. Use the promo code "joesfriends" and get 25 percent off!

I've never had premium
I've never had premium denim, but I keep telling myself that may be the only way to go to find jeans that truly fit. I have trouble finding pants that fit my hips and aren't massive in the waist, plus I have short legs so length is always challenging. But to be honest... I'm not even sure how those premium denim pant sizes correlate to "regular" sizes! ;-)
I can help!
Well, I can at least help with the size issue. Generally, a 29 waist is an 8, a 30 is a 10, a 28 is a 6 ... you get the idea. As far as length, look for a bootcut, but depening on just HOW long they are, more of a flare might be okay -- tuck the extra length under to see how flared it is where you'd be cutting it off. And, if you want to hem your pants without them looking hemmed, ask the seamstress to reattach the original hem. Hope that helps!
