Welcome to Birds of a Feather '09 (BOF)!

As we did last year, BlogHer '09 will feature BOF tables hosting various topics of interest that are either a continuation of a session topic or something new!  BOF will be held on both days during the lunch hour and you will be able to pick and choose which sessions interest you and you can "join your flock".

Here is the process:

On Friday when you register we will have numerous clip boards - on these clip boards we will have started a few topics but then, we will have blanks for YOU to fill in.  As each person registers we will direct them to the BOF table to sign up.  On Saturday we will have the clipboards out again for more sign ups so make sure to visit registration on both days.

During lunch, tables will be set up, with the appropriate signage - find a topic of interest, sit down and enjoy an unscripted conversation with like minded "birds".  You should also feel free to table hop and find a conversation that stimulates your senses.

Here are a few topics from the past - add to the list, we'll have 20 tables on each day so that means 40 unique topics are available.

- Faith BOF

- Living Sober BOF

- Feminist BOF

- Entrepreneurial BOF

Give us your ideas now and we'll work on incorporating them into BOF!

I know there are lots of us expats out there!

I also second Pop & Ice's idea of an Older-Mom or an "I am more than just my children" bloggers group.

I'd call that geeky, too, myself. There's tech geeks, fantasy geeks, video game geeks.

It's all geeky goodness.

Many of us at BlogHer are geeky, but I bet there's also a sizeable contingent of nerds. I'm talking, girls who oline up to see Harry Potter movies, can quote extensively from Star Wars, and/or can beat their own kids on any given Xbox game.

The Mother Tongue 5 pts

Seconded for the Politics table. My family stopped letting me talk about it around them. ;)

I second (or third) the request for a book table!  Can't wait to see you all in person.

I was bummed we didn't get a room of your own for that.

Hey there!  We definitely need a table for green bloggers - there are a bunch of us!

There are two days of this, right? :-)

(Still hoping that book bloggers get a table, too!)

Hope about a table on saving money and frugal living during this tough economic times?  The blogs offer a great way for people to share information and help each other!

Mom bloggers who work full time
Review bloggers
I know a lot of them have already been suggested, but I thought a second (or fifth) vote wouldn't hurt. :)

Would like to see a humor bloggers BOF too! Also "childless by choice" appeals to me. And anything food related.

This New Miliennium "Glamma" Grandma will probably stop by the "soon to be empty nester" BOF and will probably be able to lend a few suggestions.

Would also like a "Who are YOU ... putting yourself first" BOF.

How about a table for homeschoolers?  I second (or 3rd or whatever) the attachment parenting one.  And the one for those who are "green" or going green.  One for super-couponers?  Frugal moms?

Could we just combine all of those into one table, though, since I'm not quite sure yet how to clone myself?

mamarant 5 pts

Maybe I'll need to get my lunch to go because I want to eat with the Food, Diet/Fitness/Health, and Book bloggers.

The Food Bloggers are always a big bunch. Last year (or was it the year before?) they took up 2 or 3 tables.

prosaicparadise 5 pts

What about healthcare bloggers, or student bloggers?

I guess there are not as many student bloggers at the convention since students tend to be poor? Or maybe I am way off-base. :)

How about a "I'm pregnant and all I think about is eating" table?

Oh, that's just me?

I third the suggestion for an attachment parenting table. It would be great to have a central location to meet all of the people I have been corresponding with virtually.

Also, what about a "green" (environmentalism) table?

I'd love the chance to meet some other bloggers who are writing about business and work-outside-the-home issues, such as being a better leader/manager, understanding issues of corporate reputation & strategy, changing the world through changes in the workplace, feminism at work, etc.

if there are any BlogHer folks out there who are interested in these issues, and if we don't get a table, let's tweet up?

I will likely be hanging out at the feminist BOF, but I think some other cool ideas would be one focused on privacy issues/anonymous bloggers and one focused on reviewers.

I couldn't help but laugh at the My Family Hates my Blog BOF.  My sister is the anti-blogger and is not shy with her feelings.  With her consent, she has become a recurring blog theme ( http://www.peachesandcoconuts.com/2009/05/she-thre... ) because of her anti-blog barbs. She's funny but mean!  I wonder if you can use your family as material, too.

If there's a table, I'll definitely stop by-
