the joy of writing

You don't write because you want to say something, you write because you've got something to say. F. Scott Fitzgerald

I love to write... I always have a notebook inside my everyday bag. I write all sorts of stuff in my notebook from things to do, blog drafts, minutes of meetings, photography stuff, personal statement of income and expense, lists of whatever gets into my mind at the moment and a whole lot of nonsense. I have created a lot of lists in my notebook... my grocery list, my type B friends, what makes me happy, things to do before I die, my wish list and a whole lot more.

Lately, I've been using my notebook to journal some of my unique everyday experiences like the other day, when my car ran out of gas in the middle of rush hour in front of one of the A+ villages in the metro (Shame on me!!! Hehehe! Remember, don't edit out your bloopers in your journal.) I also write down my favorite quotes... right now, my favorite is "never miss the opportunity to do nothing".

I somewhat regret that I may have rediscovered this lost art of writing too late... I should have pages when I was pregnant, my thoughts about my boys when they were still babies, my life @ 30, the list of books I was reading then, travel anecdotes, my eulogy for my mom...

Oh well, that's water under the bridge now...word of advice: it's never too late to start writing. Now, if I get this feeling about something, even if I am not sure whether it's relevant or not...I make a note about it and then date it. I assure you, everything you write matters. As Andrea Dupree stated in his article Rediscovering the Joy of Writing... Get out in the world, write the truth, enjoy the words, and “the wins will come.” Someday, as I write my memoir, I'll have lots of memories to work with and I can say, the wins have come.

Hey guys, let me tell you something, I may love to write but my handwriting really sucks (hehehe!) what I do is I use a pink metallic gel pen to mask my very poor handwriting.

Moleskine maybe the notebook of choice for serious writers... me, I'm so happy with my Pink Panther journal.
