Kavita Ramdas is the senior advisor for to the Global Fund for Women, the largest nonprofit grantmaking foundation supporting women's human rights all over the world. Since 1987, the fund has given some $85 million in grants to over 4,000 women's groups in almost 200 countries.
In her interview with Kavita Ramdas for BlogHer in 2008, Britt Bravo quoted her as saying:
"I think there are many different ways in which you define leadership. As a feminist, and as a feminine feminist, I truly believe that we don't do a very good job in the United States of believing that you can lead by serving, and I think the United States needs to think deeply about being in service of the rest of the world."
During Ramdas' 14 years at GFW, she led the fund creatively, increasing the nonprofit's assets to $21 million and its annual grantmaking to $8 million. In these video interviews with genConnect, she talks about how the fund works to invest in interesting ideas by and for women across the world.
