Keeping One New Years Resolution

The New Year is approaching fast. It’s time to start to thinking about making resolutions and setting goals. And getting the house organized seems to be one of those goals that’s always at the top of list. Here are some tips to help you achieve your goal of getting organized in 2009.

Get an early start. Give each member of your family some sort of storage as a part of their Christmas gift. To make it seem less obvious try to include it as part of the wrapping.

Funky storage options are available almost anywhere. And they don’t have to cost a lot. You can find a huge selection of storage at Office Depot, Walmart.com, and even the Dollar Store.

Be creative. Think outside the box (pun intended). For instance, a desktop accessory tray normally used for pens, pencils, and such is great for organizing jewelry, small toys, or hair accessories.

Need some place to organize and store those endless video games and accessories? Try using one of those over the door shoe organizers. The ones that have shelves are especially handy.

Cubes, baskets, and trunks come in all different shapes and sizes and are perfect for storing just about everything. Choose three or four different colors, shapes, and sizes that blend well together. Then stack them. This will not only hide your clutter but will make a nice presentation.

Another thing to consider is storage ottomans. Walmart.com has several choices under $100.00. Not only are they great for keeping the mess contained but they provide extra seating. Double bang for your buck.

With all the inexpensive storage options available, you can easily achieve your goal of de-cluttering your home in the New Year.
