So Santa does not typically visit many households in our ‘hoods with
$700 bicycles in his big red bag. But the kids on our blocks are all
gaga over the this slightly smaller version of the award-winning
Strida bike, which folds up in five seconds to a 19-pound rectangle
that you can hold with one hand. The frame is triangular, with power
transferred to the rear wheels by a Kevlar belt, and handlebars are
mounted horizontally so the rider can see the road while upright. And
there’s no external grease so your hands never get dirty (a plus for
moms).
Is it recycled aluminum? Nope, although the eco-friendly intention is
to make it easier for commuters to bike to work. Not necessarily a
concern for our kids.
