Kitchen Remodel Project Part 2
By Laurie Martineau on August 19, 2013
Kitchen before and after shots...
Notice in the before shot - White ceiling, fluorescent light box, dull grey ceramic tile, black appliances, white formica counters and lemon yellow paint.
After shot of kitchen - removed light box/new light fixture, refinished ceiling, new paint, wood flooring, new counters and back splash, large stainless sink, new appliances, extended counter for seating. My solid wood flooring was hand scaped in place with a coffee stain covered with tung oil instead of a poly finish. I'm going to do another post on this type of finish and the benefits for homes with dogs.
I will eventually resurface the cabinets - probably with new white paint since all my finishes are on the dark rich color side. I like the contrast of the white with the browns and greens. Let me know if you have any questions regarding the materials used. Additional shots below.
My favorite detail - the new (actually 7 years old now!) Franke sink.
Close up shot of the flooring - it looks somewhat red here but it is brownish black . Red Oak solid wood with coffee stain topped with tung oil.
That's it for today but I promise to share more in the next week. Again, I welcome questions/comments!
