Lace + Favor Boxes

If you haven't noticed by now, lace is a major trend in fashion for the Fall/Winter season, and these looks from the Dolce & Gabbana F/W 2010 Ready-to-Wear show, have stolen my heart and occupied my thoughts!  Lace is by no means a new trend in the wedding industry; lace is a constant staple in wedding dresses from season to season. Nonetheless, for the fabulous bride who wants to incorporate this fashion trend into her wedding, here is a lace covered favor box DIY project!!

These boxes can be used for favors such as candy (my personal favorite), key chains, candles (using a bigger box), or whatever favor you chose.

Materials:

  • Boxes (I went with a hunter green color, but The Container Store and many other stores have a variety of colors)
  • Lace
  • Ribbon
  • Scissors
  • Hot Glue Gun

I actually only covered the box top, but you can cover the top and bottom if you choose.  I like the contrast provided by leaving the bottom of the box as is. Cut the lace to create a 1" parameter around the box top and fold over gluing as you go.

Once all sides have been glued to the interior of the box top, add it to the bottom, and tie a bow on it!

I liked the idea of using two colors of lace and ribbon, to add a bit of contrast to the favor display.  I would place these at the table settings to add some extra color and texture to your tables and to cut down on the risk of some guests picking up more than one favor! ;-)

Below are some affordable lace looks I am currently wanting in my wardrobe, thanks to this post :-)

I am a sucker for a full skirt, and I love black lace over a nude lining!!  The styling they've done with the socks and mary jane style platforms is adorable.

This is a great version of a little black dress, that would be great for a NYE party or a night out with girlfriends!

This top is Gorge!  Instead of a black bandeau, I would maybe due a plum or hunter green one and some high-waist wide leg trousers or full skirt.

This all black lace dress is super cute to wear with a great heel or a pointy toe flat and maybe an ample bow in the hair!
