The Landslide Brought Me Down . . .

The Landslide Brought Me Down . . .

Today when I went into mom's room, at the care center she was asleep.  Covered with her quilt, she looked so peaceful.  She looked beautifully perfect.  As I sat in the chair, next to her bed, and looked at her I began to weep--it really was a case of the landslide brought me down.  I so wished I could make everything better for her.  I started humming a song that has always made me think of my parents and how much they mean to me.  Stevie Nicks wrote this song "Landslide" about her own father.  I am who I am because of my parents, and I owe them both so much for molding and shaping me.
Right now this verse in particular seems to be weighing on my heart as I struggle to reshape my days as they are no longer centered on mom.
Well, I've been afraid of changin'
Because I've built my life around you
But time makes you bolder, even children get older
     And I'm getting older, too

This is for you mommy--I love you.

I took my love and I took it down
Climbed a mountain and turned around
And I saw my reflection in the snow-covered hills
Till the landslide brought it down

Oh, mirror in the sky - What is love?
Can the child within my heart rise above?
Can I sail through the changin' ocean tides?
Can I handle the seasons of my life?
I don't know, I don't know

Well, I've been afraid of changin'
Because I've built my life around you
But time makes you bolder, even children get older
And I'm getting older, too

So, take my love, take it down
Climb a mountain and turn around
And if you see my reflection in the snow-covered hills
Well, the landslide will bring it down
The landslide will bring it down

(Landslide, written by Stevie Nicks)
