Lessons Learned from Going Facebook-Free

BlogHer Original Post

After being Facebook-free for four months, Cindy LaFerle has some thoughts to share about the things she has noticed from a distance. There are things that she misses including the birthday reminders and links she would have otherwise overlooked, but being away has made her like people a lot more. Not just specific people; people in general. I especially love her advice on questioning your motives before you post.

When I was following the ever-flowing stream of updates — from more than 600 "friends" – I was often annoyed or baffled by so much weird behavior. Facebook is dubbed a social network, yes, but not everyone who comes to the table follows the basic tenets of courtesy, let alone the Golden Rule.

Read Cindy LeFerle's post and tell us if you've ever thought about stepping away from Facebook.
