Let Me Hypnotize Your Kid

Did you do a double-take when reading that headline?  Most likely as the idea of hypnosis to help children is not yet main-stream.  But hypnosis and Hypnotherapy isn’t just for adults looking to quit smoking or improve their motivation...children and teens also benefit from the art of hypnosis and Hypnotherapy.

In my practice I see children as young as 8 or 9 and up to 18.  While their issues may be different, ranging from trouble paying attention in school, ADD/ADHD, memory, test anxiety, sports/dance performance or shyness, the underlying theme is the same - as it is with adults too.

Can you guess what it is?

Self Confidence.  So while I tailor each session for the child/teen as to what they need help with, I always start with confidence builders and self-esteem.

Briefly take a scan of your weakness...and can you trace it to a lack of self-confidence in that area?  Perhaps asking for a raise at work, or chatting up a pretty woman at a crowded bar.  If you had more self-confidence in that area of your life, then you would be able to pursue those tasks.

I have to say it has been extremely rewarding working with children and teens.  First off, they usually have no preconceived notions of what hypnosis is, so therefore they are not fearful ... and when I tell them its just like day-dreaming, they are excited to do it.

Most of my child/teen sessions consist of 2-4 mini hypnosis sessions within the hour where we work on building confidence, teaching breathing and relaxing techniques and then positive imagery of where they want to be with their goal.

Each child then goes home with their own personalized CD (after the 2nd or 3rd session) and are able to maintain their improvement on their own with the tools I teach them.

And hopefully these tools will be ones they can apply in their future to many other areas.

If you have a child or teen that needs help in any area for life improvement, please do not hesitate to contact me.  I’m always happy to chat and explain in further detail my services!

Until then, may you be healthy in body and mind.

Be well,

Jesslyn Shani, C.Ht.
