Making macaroni Christmas Trees and Making a Lifetime of Memories
I was just recently in upstate New York with my Husband and three sons visiting my parents. They live very close to beautiful Vermont. It was a wonderful white Christmas. I was walking around my parents house enjoying all of their beautiful Christmas decorations when I came upon a couple "Macaroni Christmas Trees" do any of you remember making these when you were younger, perhaps in Catholic school or cub scouts, brownies etc. ? Well, I hadn't seen them in several years and all but forgot them. They seemed to be magical, sparkling away on that beautiful Christmas day bringing back so many nice memories. When we returned to our home a few days later I took my three sons to michaelscrafts.com and we bought three styrofoam trees, more hot glue, silver, gold, and green spray paint, some silver and gold glitter and some silver and gold balls and stars to decorte the tops. We then went to the grocery store and bought three different types of Macaroni, little shells, spiral shells, and medium bow ties. then over the weekend we crafted away, each of my sons chose one color to do and we almost seemed to be in a peaceful meditative state ( this isn't always the case , I have three sons of various ages) but it was so nice. Now Christmas is over (our trees are still out on diplay, sparkling away) and every year when we put them out at the holidays we will remember what a little money, time and hot glue can make.... Memories, beautiful memories.
