Let's Talk About Grass

And I don't mean weed. Because I don't blog about that.

The oh-so-typical cliche says something like "The grass is always greener on the other side," and then there's something about forgetting to water your own grass. The point of this blog post is to tell you that you really need to water that grass.

I used to daydream about the life I wanted -- a big house, a sweet husband, babies, a job I actually enjoyed (let's be real, probably working from home), and enough money to afford an occasional splurge. We all have those daydreams, right? And there's nothing wrong with that. Daydreaming helps us figure out where we want to be in the future. It helps us realize our goals.

But are you forgetting the most important part of that dream? How do you get there?

Yes, sometimes love, money, and success fall into someone's lap. We call that luck. But 97% of the time (source: my head), it all took some form of work. Effort. Time.

Money requires work.
Success requires work.

There is no easy button.

Successful businesses don't suddenly start making money. People invested their own money, time, and worked their booties off to get there.

Even blogging (and especially having a growing blog) requires work. Time, effort, and work. Ask any blogger who sees regular readers, campaign offers, product reviews, and growing numbers. They worked to get there! It didn't happen overnight (exception: viral Facebook posts, and most likely, the bloggers behind that post have been at it awhile).

Stop hoping you'll win the lottery. Stop hoping someone will just bail you out (I mean, unless you qualify for bankruptcy -- just keep in mind there are consequences). Set your goals. Figure out what you need to accomplish said goals.

And do it.
