Dear Body,
You are hereby charged with helping me enjoy the best years of my life as I
continue grandparenting into the future.
Together we've shed half of you and uncovered a new inner me thanks to
a Roux-en-Y bypass procedure back in August 2000. In recent months I've
disrespected our joint venture and allowed you to become overfed, under loved
and you've rebelled, as should be expected. You've begun to morph back
into early stages of ill health as you climb the scales toward the danger
zone. We can’t do it alone, though.
Together with our brain, I want the three of us, heart, mind and body to
reestablish our pattern of TLC through self awareness, love of health and
fitness, and careful crafting of a wholesome self image.
I love you. I need you. I honor you for keeping us all together
and safe, enveloping us with your magnificent design and being ready for our
spirit to ignite, our intelligence to override the past habits that try to
invade and our combined efforts to keep us on track to a better tomorrow
starting today.
Now, let’s go get fit and have fun doing it. The Hula Hoop is in the
garage with the bike, and for days without good weather, I'll dust off the
treadmill and have an alternate place to stay active.
I will say it again. I love you, Body. I need your help, Brain. Thank you both
for being my best friends for life.
