This weekend, rebel troops invaded Libya's capital, Tripoli, and took control of the city. Though the whereabouts of Colonel Muammar Gaddafi, Libya's ruler for over 40 years, are still unknown and Al-Jazeera is reporting "pockets of resistance," the rebels have claimed control of most of Tripoli.
The country began to see protests in February 2011, as did other Middle Eastern countries. Today, Libya is coming back online after a six-month blackout initiated by the Gaddafi regime in March 2011, in an effort to quash protest.
President Obama yesterday praised the invasion and described it as a result of an "unprecented coalition" including "the United States, our NATO partners and Arab nations."

Earlier this week, journalist Yusra Tekbali reported on the role of women in the Libyan uprising, saying, "The presence of women from Day 1 throughout Libya's revolution is the best indicator of how unhappy society (both men and women) were under Gaddafi's nearly 42-year-rule."
