Wow...my first post. Years of built up words of wisdom and hilarious moments as well as chaotic unbelievable events living with a now 15 year old who has run the gammet of emotional illness. Only those of you who live with this, live and love someone who suffers from any array of emotional lack of control can understand what this life is like. The rages, the broken objects, the yelling, crying, the apologies when it's all over. The love you have for this child, your child, my child, yet the resentment you may also feel for the limits their difficulities put on your life as a family. Vacations are almost non existant for fear of an "episode" so embarrassing you would have to leave wherever you are at a moments notice. Forget having friends over , as you know a lovely evening can change in a second and this child can morph into something else over the most minor thing. These moments can certainly, and do, cause life to become difficult, but as I make myself stop and think how horrible it must all be for him. To have no control over his thoughts, tears, actions and to know other kids look upon him as a freak. It is sad and heartbreaking for everyone who loves this person, especially for them. To enlighten you my son has the following illnesses: IED/OCD/ADD/Tourettes (brought on by a strep infection) now known as PANDAS. Yet with all these lables, for school purposes and MD purposes, he is a funny, lovely, HUGE hearted kid, when his mind is thinking clearly. I am most positiive many of you out there have been there, done that, and know exactly what I am saying. Faith, love, hope.
