Getting out there

Doing Our Part Tell me what Democracy looks like?! This is what Democracy looks like!   My precinct made quorum! On The First Try! In years past we've had to go to lame  make up meetings on a Saturday at the party head quarters and those are no fun. These meetings aren't fun either but at least you get a feeling of community and  all that. True out of 1500 voters we pulled a total of five, but that's approximately four more than we had last time, so its a big deal. ...more

Working for yourself

Lift that bail tote that barge  I have given myself a homework assignment for this evening: I must watch Four Christmas's. Its been sitting there gathering dust in its little envelope since, oh, I don't know, a long time ago. ...more

Cooking

Cooking  I just had a very ADD moment. I had settled in front of the machine and flipped through a couple or five sites I wanted to check on and then got to the business of getting an entry done. And then I decided that I really, really needed to make dog cookies! Right Now! Green shamrock cookies to be precises and I needed to get these done right here right now because if I didn't do it right here right now Dogger might run out of cookies tomorrow or the next day! ...more

So this weekend was the first of my internship at a restaurant in my hometown. I get to make the desserts during the day and then at night I plate not only the desserts but the appitizers as well. What Does Snowboarding Have in Common with the Burpee Garden Catalog?

Rhonda Fleming Hayes Absolutely nothing. But I was looking at them simultaneously yesterday and I thought you'd appreciate the contrast. These mogul-hopping, mop-haired daredevils were braving the brutal artic winds while these juicy, red tomatoes and gaudy, striped petunias were leaping off the page at me. I wasn't watching the Olympics in my living room, but sitting below a "mountain" in Minnesota, leafing through a catalog I found in the car, while my husband was kicking the tires on a rust-riddled "88 Beemer. ...more

If not me? Who?

Playing What If... I don't know if you read my addendums to yesterday's post but short story long, the agencies and offices I contacted about my little friends either didn't get back to me, or expressed to me that it wasn't their job. APS has a very narrow definition of what "adults in need of protection" are and that definition does not include reference to homeless people camped out in a shack. Crying . I thought APS was supposed to go in and help adults in need of protection! I was naive. ...more
