Anne Frank, the Holocaust Shooting and Forgiveness

Anne Frank would have been 80 years old on June 12th.  How ironic that within days of this anniversary, once again Jews were attacked - this time at the Holocaust Museum, a place designed to memorialize the victims, including Anne, of the Holocaust itself.  It's an ironic reminder of what all our mothers  - and most of our rabbis -- told us -- that there will always be people who hate Jews and that they will always find ways to try to hurt us - singly or in great numbers. ...more

Musings of a Perimenopausal Pagan Mom

I'm stepping into changes in career, marriage, parenting, spirituality, home, and health. I'd like to talk to others on similar jouneys. More than that, I hope to shape my journey by joining in some of the ongoing conversations I find on the web. One of those Web conversations (webersations?) circles around being a thinking, mature Pagan. ...more

Something like a sweetness - the progress of grief in the spring

My Father used to tell me about grief. He said that he always missed his mother. But he added -- "...somehow, over time, the hurt doesn't ever go away for good, but something like a sweetness comes in beside it." I've been talking to a lot of grieving people lately -- people who are recalling losses from long ago. Is it the spring that does that? The sudden life reminder? Does the arrival of new life remind us of old departures? ...more

Dating Episode #0: My Elbow Was a Delicious Cake

We went around the circle in grieving group. What happened in your life this week? I was all a-giggle. “I BOUGHT PERFUME! Here smell this!” I oozed manically, extending my cleavage to Viv. I’d never bought a perfume before. Sure, I used to wear sandalwood or musk oil, smearing it through my hair before martial arts class. But I’d always been skeptical that the marketplace could come up with a fragrance that really suited me, me, me, and it seemed that every perfume I tried smelled like my Grandma, mostly half-rotten lilies, at least on me. ...more

I'm grateful for the spring and the flowers blooming and I saw the cutest baby bunny eating grass today. Those are sweet moments and I'm grateful for them.
