Update 7/1/12: This sweepstakes has now ended. Thanks for your interest in this promotion. You can still read the bloggers' reviews by clicking on the links below.

BlogHer invited a group of bloggers and their daughters to try Venus Embrace Razor and Passionista Satin Care Shave Gel to see how soft, smooth and easy it made their first shaving experiences. Both the bloggers and their kids loved the 5 blades plus the ribbon of moisture and the sparkling fruity scent of the shave gell was a big hit too.

Click on the links below to read their reviews. Each blogger is also giving away a $50 Visa gift card so be sure to read them all for your chances to win!

This BlogHer sweepstakes runs from May 21, 2012 to June 30, 2012 and is only open to individuals who, at the time of entry deadline, are legal residents of the United States and are 18 years or older.  Winners will be randomly selected from all eligible entries. Ballerina Passionista!

"Dad's shaving cream makes me smell like a guy," my ballerina remarks one day after showering in my bathroom.  "Did you use his shaving cream on your legs?" I ask.  "There was nothing else to use!" she explains, slouching against my bedroom door--all wet, drippy hair and exasperated sighs. "I need to shave for ballet, but I don't really have a razor or shaving cream that works for me!"  I chuckle, remembering my own first attempts at shaving, perched on my mother's bathroom sink, lathering up my legs with a bar of soap.  Read more

Shin Bone Safety Shaving

When I was in 7th or 8th grade or maybe even 9th  (I can't remember back to just last week, so let's not get picky about details) I decided that I needed to shave my legs because "everyone" else was. Of course I didn't do the obvious thing and talk to my mom about it (how EMBARRASSING!), I just went into the bathroom and found a cheap old razor and some soap and experimented.  Everything went fine and dandy till I got the shin bone.  I still have a scar from the piece of skin that came off with the razor.  Read more

Sharing One of My Firsts and a $50 Giveaway

Every year of my childhood the women in my family would vacation in South Carolina.  For two weeks we stayed in my grandma's Airstream trailer on the beach soaking up the salty sea air and hot sun. It was my mother and her two sisters, Grandma, cousins, my little sister and me. The summer I was 11, they all decided it was time for me to shave my legs.  Do you like my hairstyle and hot pink and neon yellow bathing suit?  It was 1990; I was pre-teen and thought I was so cool.  Read more

Venus Embrace and Passionista Fruit Satin Care

I’m trying to figure this parenting thing out. For a while, my big decisions were when to start solid foods and which preschool to send her to.  As time goes on, the dilemmas keep piling up: When do I let her get her ears pierced?  When should I let her do her own hair? What age should she get her own cell phone? Is texting a different story? When should she be allowed to shave her legs? When do I let her wear makeup?  Read more
