Tonight's your last opportunity to watch two men who would be president, Republican John McCain and Democrat Barack Obama, take questions about how they would lead the United States.
Will you watch? What's the one question you would ask if you we ...

A few days ago, thousands of women from all across the country came to Chicago for a national conference on the major questions and concerns facing women today. For two days, they discussed many important issues facing our nation… from health care ...

Let’s talk healthcare, shall we?
I’m for it. I think we should have doctors and specialists and nurses and hospitals.
What I am not for, and never will be no matter how you sugar-coat it, is nationalized or socialized or government-sponsored healthcare. Look at where we are today, folks. I’m hearing every side blame the government for the state of affairs. These are the people you want in charge of your healthcare? Not me, thanks.
Every Halloween, since the dawn of the internets, I've been sent email forwards and weblinks that contained links to presidential pumpkins. Every year I've kind of shrugged and said "whatever". I don't get it. But maybe that's because I try really hard not to get overly emotional about political figures. A politician is a politician is a politician and I would never carve a pumpkin to resemble one - not to be scary, or supportive or sarcastic. My brand of humor (or Halloween celebration) just doesn't run in that direction.

I’ve spent the past couple of years “coming out,” as it were, politically. I began blogging in 2001, anonymously, on politics and music for a group website I’d founded (and dismantled when I started Mamalogues). Here I am again, but this time I’m using my name.
I woke up this morning to the sound of helicopters and airplanes.
It's never the sound you want to hear in Southern California in October.
So far our home and air remain unscathed, but just a few miles from us communities are dealing with destruction and continued worry.
Working from home can sound like the holy grail to many folks, especially if you work in a cubicle somewhere. Yet whether you get the opportunity to work from home as part of an arrangement with your employer or YOU are your own employer, you need to be conscious of your choices and focused to reap the benefits. Some of the biggest challenges include things like: distractions, urge to goof off, urge to work nonstop, meeting customer/employer expectations, dealing with technology requirements/problems, and creating a physical space conducive to work.

I interviewed two leading economists to find out. On Tuesday, when the “partial nationalization” of some of our country’s largest banks was announced, Henry Paulson’s most widely circulated quote was “Government owning a stake in any private U.S. company is objectionable to most Americans – me included…” But the alternative, no credit in the market, is “totally unacceptable,” according to Paulson.
October 15th is Love Your Body Day from the NOW Foundation. They ask, "Do you love what you see when you look in the mirror?" Honestly, most days when I look in the mirror, I feel pretty OK about who I see. And grateful that I feel pretty OK about who I see, truth be told. But love? Hm...You know, when I love my body is when I'm using it. Feeling it.

To eat the candy, or not to eat the candy? That is the question.
Halloween is a tough time for anyone trying to avoid sugar and weight gain. My weaknesses are frozen Snickers and M&Ms. It's going to be hard, but I am going to try my best not to eat any Halloween candy this year. I know moderation is best...But, once I start eating the candy, I can't stop. So, I'm making a Halloween Resolution this year, to not eat any candy at all.
But, if you're looking for some less radical ways to avoid sugar and stay healthy during Halloween, check out some of these posts...
Sometimes when you are writing--whether it is a blog post, a book or just in your own personal journal-- you have to just throw things out there and see what sticks. Today I am throwing this out there betting many of you can relate.Writing? It is hard.

In a time when most vehicle manufacturers have begun shying away from leasing, Volkswagen is announcing the return of a stimulus package from earlier this year to promote the attractiveness of leasing a new Volkswagen.
