Lisa, Elisa, and Jory on the Power of Blogging, Favorite Moments, and 10 Years of BlogHer

BlogHer Original Post

BlogHer co-founders Lisa Stone, Elisa Camahort Page, and Jory Des Jardins sat down with genConnect at BlogHer '14 to talk about the company and the conference the community built.

Do you know how BlogHer began? CEO Lisa Stone shares how it all started, and what it's felt like to watch the community grow (and grow and grow and grow).

"We thought we were going to give a love note to our community and then go back to our lives as professional bloggers. We never intended to start a business that reaches 100 million women every month and has paid out 37 million dollars to 6,000 bloggers over the past five years … it's really gratifying."

“I’ve never done anything for 10 years before BlogHer,” says Jory, BlogHer's President of Strategic Alliances, about the company that she co-built back in 2005. The reason for her commitment? "I never did something I felt that strongly about before." She just knew BlogHer would be a success.

And Elisa shared one of her favorite moments EVER from the BlogHer conferences:

"We do our introduction of President Obama, we sit down, we look up … and the first thing he said was, 'Hi Elisa, hi Lisa,' and I was like, WHOA. This is a moment. This has meaning, for us and our company and our community."
