Listening Critically: What happens when you cross an aesthete, Hillsong, and discussion of German rock?

Over the last few months I have been sharing Goannatree with the guest posts of the talented Dr. Rose Bexar.

Dr. Rose Bexar, alias San Antonio Rose, is a freelance editor and writer, best known in online circles as an award-winning fanfiction author and creator of Monkeefans for Christ.

Though her primary scholarly interests are medieval literature and theology and the writings of J. R. R. Tolkien and C. S. Lewis, she views fandom and fiction writing as outlets for applied scholarship, and her interdisciplinary leanings tend to show themselves in applications of Dante's "allegory of the poets" and highly unusual crossover fanfiction.

Dr Rose has written a six part series titled "On Listening Critically" . This is an insightful examination of what it means to listen to music, both secular and church, critically.

Part 1: Taking Stock of a New Fandom,
Part 2: Animals are for Eating, and Other Timeless Truths
Part 3: Listen to the Band

Part 4: Sounds Fair, Reads Foul

Part 5: Why should the Devil have all the good music?

Part 6: Standing on the Promse, sitting on the premise
