We recently introduced Knox & Sloane to The Little Mermaid! They loved it, which is no surprise :) The Little Mermaid has always been one of my favorites and you can catch me singing or humming "unda the seeeeeea" on any given day! I remember it coming out when I was four or five years old. I loved it. I thought Ariel was beautiful and all the colors were so pretty in the "ocean." I remember having a flounder squeeze toy in the bathtub even!...more
Jill loves all things The Little Mermaid. She loves the songs, the fish, the crabs, the ride at Disneyland...but above all else, she loves Ariel. That red headed princess is her favorite. It's the princess she gets most excited about, the movie that makes her bounce up and down excitedly when we put it on. In fact, I will contend that there is just about nothing cuter than hearing Jill try to sing "Part of that woooooooorllllldd....." Also, she can do a pretty killer dance move when Under the Sea comes on....more
A few months ago, our little girl decided that Ariel was her favorite princess and that The Little Mermaid was her favorite movie. Already looking forward to the upcoming release of The Little Mermaid on Blu-ray, we were thrilled to get an early copy to review. To celebrate, I thought it would be fun to have a little movie night and make a few special treats. The star of our little party was this White Chocolate Popcorn Munch, or as we called it Mermaid Munch. Because of our busy week, that included sports practices and back to school nights, we had our movie night a little early....more
We were doing something that we’ve done dozens of times - Alexis and I were cuddled up on the couch watching The Little Mermaid. It is and has always been her favorite Disney movie, but for some reason, we hadn’t watched it together in probably a year or so. Still, I should have figured it out sooner. As Alexis focused on the action happening on the screen, occasionally reciting lines of the movie along with the characters, I sat focused on Alexis. She is the kid who has never met a shiny thing she didn’t want to own. She marvels at the world every time she turns a corner....more
Do you ever stop to think about how you encourage your children to follow their dreams, particularly when they're very young and so reliant on you? I think, as parents, we'd all agree that we want our kids to grow up confident and happy and "to be all they can be." But what actions do we take to help them along their way? We recently received a special edition copy of Disney's The Little Mermaid movie and I automatically started doing my thing - I pulled out my supply bins with items used for mermaid birthday parties we've hosted. ...more
I was eight years old when The Little Mermaid came out. I loved it so much that I even wrote a detailed account of the movie in my journal. For my art class at school, I remember trying to draw Ariel and working oh so very hard to draw her exactly as I saw her on screen. I erased one portion of her nose and lips and re-drew it so many times that the paper was close to having a hole as I tried to get it just right. And I remember throwing a little fit and crying because she looked like crap, ha ha!...more
Basically, when I was 13, I lived and breathed The Little Mermaid. It had just come out in theaters. I saw it multiple times, I owned the soundtrack, I loved the music. And when it came out on DVD my cousin Rachael and I memorized it. We spent two weeks at her grandparent's lake house that summer watching the movie every single day---quoting and singing along. I can still quote it today. Maybe you can too?! ...more
Way back in the 90's when our now-grown girls were tiny, one of the movies that found its way to our VHS player fairly often was Disney's Little Mermaid. As a family who loves to quote movie lines, we still joke now and then about dinglehoppers, and I think we all ended up memorizing at least part of the song, 'Kiss the Girl'....more
Being a working mom and taking care of three little ones all day each day can be very challenging, yet rewarding. I try to keep these cute little kiddos entertained, but sometimes their fighting wins. Recently I was given the opportunity to review The Little Mermaid, which will be available for the first time on Blu-ray Combo Pack and HD Digital October 1st. Movies aren't always a help, but right after receiving The Little Mermaid all 3 kiddos laid right down and watched almost the whole show....more
I'm so excited that my favorite Disney movie, The Little Mermaid, is about to be released for the first time on Blu-Ray Combo Pack and HD Digital on October 1st. My girls LOVE The Little Mermaid. They love to get in the bathtub and pretend to be mermaids. I love all the music in the movie. How can you possibly not think about the Little Mermaid and not start singing "Under the Sea"?...more
