Little Things to Remember
Do you know that my baby is 11 months old? I can hardly believe it. Soon we will be celebrating her first birthday and her big sister's third. Time really flies when you're up all night, wiping noses and changing bums, reading books over and over and of course dancing a little. This motherhood journey can be a real blur and I'm starting to realize what people mean when they tell you to enjoy your children because they are only little for a short time.
The little things that I really want to remember are the more subtle moments of motherhood. The moments that are quickly forgotten if were not careful to take notice. Little things like:
For me the little things are the greatest treasures of motherhood. The milestones are important, but real life is lived in all of the little moments that it takes to get our children to them. The little things are worth the up all nighters and the early morning risers. They are worth the hard days when you're counting the hours until bedtime at noon. They are worth the days when you are behind on everything, short on patience and in desperate need of a break.
This is what those well-meaning people are talking about when they tell you that your children will only be little for a short time.
They want you to remember that the little things are really not so little after all.
