Lose 15 pounds in 17 days: '17 Day Diet' creator explains how

Can rapid weight loss be safe and permanent? Yes, says San Diego-based family practitioner Mike Moreno, M.D. In a recent interview with Prevention, Dr. Moreno explained how his new version of the "17-Day Diet" helps dieters lose up to 15 pounds in 17 days easily and safely. It's entitled "The 17 Day Diet Breakthrough Edition."

"I created The 17 Day Diet because my patients needed to get real results (and encouragement) FAST," explained Dr. Moreno, whose first book detailing his unique diet is entitled "The 17 Day Diet: A Doctor's Plan Designed for Rapid Results" (click for details).

The diet involves what Dr. Moreno calls "body confusion." Designed to help you lose belly fat quickly, Dr. Moreno says that it tricks your body to keep your metabolism in fat-burning mode at all times.

The benefits include accelerated fat loss around your midsection, no need for counting calories and unlimited food lists that avoid feeling deprived.

Two different kinds of body fat exist, according to Prevention's report. In contrast to traditional weight loss, rapid weight loss is shown to remove both types of of belly fat effectively.

In a Finnish study published in the International Journal of Obesity and Related Metabolic Disorders, a rapid weight loss diet followed for just 6 weeks trimmed visceral fat by 25 percent and reduced subcutaneous fat by 16 percent.

The weight loss plan was independently chosen by a group of school district employees who wanted to lose weight, reported the Brainerd Dispatch earlier this month.

More than 200 employees and family members shed an estimated average of 9.39 pounds each in 17 days.

Aimee Jambor, Brainerd School District nurse and head of the diet plan described it as "the right time of year, the right people and the right program. It just happened, evolved. It was one of best things we could have done."

She based the entire project on Dr. Moreno's diet book and felt that the four 17-day stages, with the last one meant to maintain the weight goal that was achieved, was ideal for achieving the fast results that her weight loss group was seeking.

"I've seen it work with my patients," says Dr. Mike. "Men and women have lost up to 15 pounds in 17 days, and kept losing 30, 40, 50 pounds or more."
