Make up Brushes Maintenance

I will be honest; I’ m always forgetting to clean my make up brushes…
Sometimes I think “I’ll just do it later” and a month later I will finally wash my brushes.
I was having a lot of breakouts and went online to see what could be the cause (I wasn’t doing or using anything different)…. It ended up being my make up brushes.

Skin oils contain bacteria which you transfer to your tools, so if you don’t wash and clean them at least once a week, they will infect the cosmetics, and the bacteria will breed. Most times this leads to breakouts.

**It is important to clean brushes once a week**

Some makeup brushes aren't cheap, regardless of the price; I still want to make sure that they remain clean and in great condition.

There are lots of makeup brush cleansers on the market that help to get the job done, but you can also take good care of your tools using household items.

Bar soap- Massaging your dirty blush or foundation brushes against a bar of soap will work the cleanser deep into the bristles. Rinse with lukewarm water and wipe your brush against a paper towel.

Liquid Dish Soap and a clean sponge - Pour a little of the dish soap on top of the sponge and then rub your brush against the surface. And again, rinse with lukewarm water, wipe with a towel to remove any leftover debris and lay your brushes flat to dry.

Olive oil is a great way to not only clean smaller brushes, but also to condition the bristles. In this case, it's okay to submerge your makeup brushes into the oil. Rub them against a sponge and you'll start to see all those caked-up pieces of product come off.

*Be careful not to get the brush barrel wet, as it will loosen the bristles and cause them to fall out.*

Let’s go clean our brushes!

Thank you for reading, I hope this was helpful ;)
