Make it Count: The Video at BlogHer '10

BlogHer Original Post

In honor of tonight's amazing BlogHer 2010 Voices of the Year Gala and Art Auction curated by Kirtsy, we asked the brilliant Katherine Center to make a short movie inspired by the power and beauty of women who blog -- and the difference we could all make together with an auction to help clean up the Gulf of Mexico.

Here are Katherine's words, paired with images from photographers including the LovetheGulf pool on Flickr:

Make It Count, by Katherine Center

We lose so much more than we hold on to.
Moments disappear even as they happen.
And who knows what lies ahead.
But when I need to tell myself what to do,
this is what I say:
Find some way to honor your life.
Tell it over coffee.
Sing it as a song.
Paint it.  Photograph it.  Blog it.
Find meaning however you can.

Just remember to pay attention.
That’s what I hear
when I’m quiet enough to listen.
Words as undeniable as my own breaths:
Make it count.  Make it count.  Make it count.

I may need to grab a hanky. Or I'll share mine. And prepare to get your party on as Laura Mayes describes, from 6-10 p.m. Friday night, to review dozens of pieces of art inspired by the 2010 BlogHer Voices of the Year. want a sneak peek of the art do you? Okay...g'head over to and prepare to feast your eyes on an auction of art inspired by the 2010 BlogHer Voices of the Year, curated by the gifted women of Kirtsy...Every dollar we raise will be donated to The Nature Conservancy to help clean up the Gulf of Mexico.
