If you like him, should you put a ring on it? I’m all about equality, but Jarret Gabel took it to a new level when he went searching for an engagement ring for himself too, “It’s not fair,” he said in an interview with Nightline. “She gets diamonds, I should get at least one.” It’s an historic tradition that started in Europe and is gaining ground in the United States, “It’s almost not fair, buying an engagement band like this and only wearing it for six months,” said Gabel. What? His fiance needs to do a “straight” check on him. And women wear an engagement ring to signify that they are taken, but I think MORE women wear an engagement ring to show their new taken status to their female friends and companions. Every engaged girl I have ever met made a production of showing her engagement ring. It's a status symbol and an important one to girls. It's a man's gesture to his future bride. Can you imagine your fiance’s co-workers crowding around his cubicle and saying, “Ooh Bob, let me see your ring! So handsome.” Put me down as a hells no in this equality category. If my man put on one of those rings, I wouldn’t have married him.
