Sung in my best Bangles voice... It's just another manic Monday, I wish it was Sunday, 'Cause that's my funday, My I don't have to runday. It's just another manic Monday!

Monday's are tough sometimes. You've just had a fun weekend and now - ugh - work. What's fun in that?

Sure there's this thing called a paycheck at the end of the week - but gosh - it's five whole days to get there. So I thought it would be fun if every Monday - to start a new blog post with all the fun colored, sparkly, shiny and oohhh how the heck did she do that manicures I've been sporting lately.

This week's was from China Glaze - it's a turquoise crackle called Crushed Candy over a metallic orange called Papaya Punch.  I recommend only one layer of base coat, one coat of Papaya Punch, one coat of Crushed Candy Crackle and two - yes - two layers of top coat.  The crackle gave my nails a weird texture almost scratchy feel.  It also was more matte than I would have liked.  By applying an extra top coat the next day my nails were super shiny - and six days later - only one barely visible chip. Can't.  Stop.  Looking at them.  LOVE!

NOTE: Be sure to let each coat dry though before applying another!

Crackle is super popular and I feel like an old woman for not liking it-'get off my lawn!'

Elisa Camahort Actually Elisa - you do need to be very careful of shellac an gel manicures http://janenation.com/forums/p/2780/7426.aspx#7426

Karen MoranElisa Camahort I agree with Karen.. I had a very bad experience with the shellac manicure's too... While I love them in theory, I will never do them again http://feelingbeachie.com/2011/03/too-good-to-be-t...

I love my acrylic nails. My own nails are very thin and weak and I can never grow them much beyond the pink. So I run every 2 weeks to the salon. I've done it for years and nay sayers can say what they want....I'll never go back. Love my french manicure! And my tips aren't always white most times my tips are colored a pretty color. With the french manicure you don't see the growth line unless you really look for it so 2 weeks is fine without a repolish. :)

This seems like a fun way to kick off each week, though I may read them on Friday so I can work on it over the weekend ;)

It's Official. I'm OLD! Yes, I am only 50 years old and Yes, I consider myself very "hip" allowing, and non judgmental...nevertheless, I think this "Crackle trend" is the ugliest thing I've ever seen. It looks like what we had as youngsters when we were trying to hide the fact that we were painting our nails from mothers that thought we were being "too grown." In those days MOST polishes contained the bad big three - Formaldehyde, Dibutyl Phthalate (DBP), and Toluene, lovingly coating your cells through the nostrils and the skin.

One thing is that it proves you can sell anything--and YES, I KNOW it's all the craze - I just wish we could "sell" the need to work for peace as easily as we can sell things that are "messed" up! Just sayin'

Love them! I went crackle crazy all summer long....not only is it so pretty, you don't notice the chips so much..

feelingbeachie I know!! I loved it - it's almost like the crack polish is more "adhesive" to the nail. Thx!!

Yeah, I would been there done that. That was called me teenage years in the '90's. Not trying to revisit that time. Actually, on second glance, I have to say that in the '90's I would not have sported that because it screams '80's to me and that era confused me (shoulder pads, mullets, dayglo, HUGE hair, cocaine, Prince). lol To each their own, if you wear that, wear it with confidence. :)

I think it looks like gangrene. I'm generally someone who doesn't play it safe at all but I'm surprisingly prudish when it comes to nail polish.

After looking at it more closely I don't like it. I can see where it would fit in with the right outfit, but, I had to think about that. My first impression was, "wow what happened to her nails"

You get one shot at a thinish cost if you want a lot if crackle the 2 costs if clear. Make sure the bottom color is bright or very dark......

Love it. I'm 33 and saw some girls getting it done this spring at the salon. I said sure. Why not.

Pink toes. Black crackle over. I freaked thinking the black would be too much, it was rock star. Love crackle paints!

I think it looks messy, too. Almost like your polish is starting to chip off..

I pity those who are too uptight for crackle.

i have had it done and its fun..but it does not have the shine or last as long as regular polish so if you pay for your pedis you will be going more often

From a distance it looks like you messed up your polish! Not worth the money...

In ten years we will look back and ask "what were we thinking??" I think it looks messy. As Kelly said, its a good way to hide a bad manicure.

i like it and have it in a ton of colors, but it's kind of getting old.

I haven't done it myself but I've seen some awesome samples at the Salon. Really pretty! But we don't have a dishwasher ... which severely limits polish life expectancy!

It is all the rage with my 10 year old and her friends. I suppose it's a good way to hide a bad manicure, lol.
