It's baaaaack.

Anybody recognize those names?
It's the original cast of The Baby-Sitters Club of course! I grew up reading these books - and by that I mean I owned every single book in the series. Every. Single. One. And, if fact, if you happen to see my mom around and ask her what is in the hall closet next to my old room at my parents house, she could probably verify that for me. But hopefully you won't.
Anyway, I saw this article in the NY Times and it's true! Ann M. Martin, originator of The Baby-Sitters Club is in fact, bringing the series back! Now, when I read the books, they were aimed more at kids that were close to the baby-sitters ages. Maybe 11 and up or so. Now, it seems that they will be aiming the new series at girls that are more the age of the children that they sat for. Sat for? Is that right? Well, you know what I'm saying.
If I had had a girl, I can guarantee you that I would rush out and buy every single one of the books that will be coming out. As a parent, you don't have to worry about any questionable content in these books, which is great. I remember for every holiday, birthday, whatever, I'd ask for gift cards to my local bookstore, for, you guessed it, BSC books.
Did you read them? Have a favorite character (ahem, mine was Dawn, because like me, we were both blonde haired, blue eyed California girls)? Perhaps a favorite book (I enjoyed the cruise - it was a special not part of the regular series)? Or do you just think I'm a total dweeb for admitting all this? Hopefully not!

I wrote about the comeback too and had to regretfully admit that I was more like Mary Ann (I wanted to be more like Stacey).

I liked the cruise one too. Come to think of it I seem to recall a lot of books for teens being set on cruise ships. There was one in particular, I think it was one of those romance novels for young readers (was it Silhouette that did those?) where the girl was going on a cruise with her grandmother and had to by fancy dresses that I remember. One of them was bright blue. Well actually, that's about all that I remember. What *was* that book? Gah, it's going to drive me nuts.
