Social Media Researcher, BlogHer
Melisa is a social media researcher for BlogHer, a job which seemed like a natural career step for her after she became addicted to platforms like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Tumblr.
Melisa is the author of two books, "Remembering Ruby: For Families Living Beyond the Loss of a Pet" and the more recent "Chicken in the Car and the Car Won't Go: Nearly 200 Ways To Enjoy Chicagoland With Tweens and Teens". If she writes a third book, it will probably have a one-word title, two max.
She is a freelance writer both in print and online, regularly contributing business features to salon industry trade magazine "Nailpro" and lifestyle posts at Manilla.com.
She is one of the co-producers of Chicago's Listen To Your Mother show, now in its second year, and a partner at Social RevUp, a company that connects brands and bloggers via customized events.
For more than five years Melisa has been blogging at Suburban Scrawl, where she writes about her love of Chicago, life, fitness, and her family, which includes her high school sweetheart husband, their two nearly grown sons, and a very naughty beagle named Roxie.
