GETTING LAID OFF PRETTY MUCH FEELS LIKE GETTING DUMPED

It’s surreal… I can still remember in perfect detail what it felt like to hear the words, “we’ve had to make some cuts, and we’re going to have to lay you off. Ashley I’m so sorry.” It was such a familiar feeling, and I realized later that it was so absolutely completely like getting dumped. Except, I was getting dumped by my job, not some boy I could scream obscenities back at, and tell lies about behind his back. I mean, where will all my repressed anger go?  Read more >

Hi everyone. I'm a 24 year old English major who graduated from the University of Washington and landed my dream job in book publishing... only to have it taken away from me five months ago due to the economic climate. I've been struggling since December 5th applying for jobs, interviewing, and mostly not finding work.  Read more >

Hi all! So, two weeks ago my boyfriend and I rescued a 9 week old, super mutt. She's absolutely adorable, smartest little puppy in the whole world, but for the life of us we can't fugure out what breed she is. About Me:

So there once was this twentysomething girl who thought she was on track with life and her career, as most naive twentysomethings chose to believe. Then in December of 2008 she received a pink slip from her 'dream job' and subsequently suffered from a panic attack that lasted three solid months. Eventually this sad and confused twentysomething, with no job, and no clue, picked herself off the floor, packed up her belongings and left the Emerald City for a much smaller city, Olympia WA. Eventually this little girl found herself employment (AFTER 6 DAMN MONTHS!), but upon true reflection our twentysomething quickly realized that life seems to be just as much a mess now as ever. Who knows, maybe even scarier! So it seems for our heroine that the only thing left to do is continue to march along, while also frantically searching for a bucket in an attempt to bail out some water from this tragically sinking ship. Who knows what happens next my friends. Join me, and please, bring a bucket. The Accidental Olympian
