WHAT WAS AND WILL BE

OUT OF DEBIT

Nope. It's not a typo - I'm not out of DEBT. Oh, heck, no - I don't plan on digging myself out of that vast chasm until the day I die, although actually I'm not sure I can count on it being that soon! No, no - I'm out of DEBIT. Surprisingly my debit card has lasted for what I'm sure is a record amount of scans on that hardy little magnetic strip. What with my daily trips to Bloom, Red Box, WalMart, Sheetz, etc. I'm actually amazed my bit of plastic hasn't just disintigrated.  Read more >

WHAT A WUSS

Those of you who know me know that I'm far from shy. I'm pretty outspoken, quick to rock the boat when something irks me and fast to shout from the rooftops when I feel something bears praise and publicity. So it came as such a surprise to me to find out that I'm really quite the wuss.Last week as I was perusing the produce at the grocery store I looked up from the lettuce to find Robert Duvall standing not three feet away from me. I quickly looked back down and up again - thinking for sure my eyes had deceived me and he would morph into someone more common looking.Nope.  Read more >

LOOKING BACK

In honor of my dear friend Kim's effort to bring more positive sunshine and appreciation into her life, and I must admit it's spilling over into mine (thanks, darlin' ; ), I have to admit that I am so damn proud and appreciative of my children who have the uncanny knack of keeping me young and sane while at the same time causing grey hairs to sprout on my head, which they have sent spinning in a tizzy.  Read more >

Professional Outlook on my new Book: Bargaining for Our LIves

Information

About Me:

After years of handling my family's healthcare without insurance my husband declared me knowledgeable enough to write a book on the topic...so I did! Bargaining for Our Lives is a personal memoir that every American should read, regardless of insurance status. It's a great guide for learning how to take a more involved, take-charge role in your family's care and the costs associated with it. See what it's all about through the link on the book title above.

Living in the breath-taking countryside of Virginia, I enjoy nature and endeavoring to get as close to it as possible. Although I considers myself to be weird by today's standards, I actually believe that I am ahead of my time in reverting to a life more befitting our ancestors; counting gardening and canning, knitting and sewing, baking and cooking as some of my favorite pasttimes (aside from frequenting thrift stores, of course!).

My unique perspective as a spoiled adult, sarcastic know-it-all, loving parent, devoted wife, self-depricating and humorous optimist makes my blog an interesting public therapy session open to all who care/dare to share in my observations of life, love and daily dirt.
