I remember some of my college literature and art classes, times professors would assign a book or work of some sort that I would swear they wanted us to discuss just to see what we’d manage to say -- not because there was anything grand about it or any particular point but just to see if in our self-important heads we could come up with something. Karen White's The Beach Trees Brings Hope To Tragedy

As I began to read The Beach Trees by Karen White, I entered not just one world of mystery and searching but two. The book starts with Julie Holt, a woman who is now guardian of five year old Beau, who is headed to Biloxi and the house her friend Monica left to her. She is alone and confused and drifting in her life, determined only to do right by Beau. She arrives in Biloxi only to discover that the house has been destroyed by Katrina five years earlier.  Read more >

The best thing I can say about What Happened to Goodbye by Sarah Dessen is that when I turned the last page, I was waiting for more. That isn't to say that the book hadn't finished its story. Rather, the characters and the overall life behind the story were so compelling to me that I wanted more.  Read more >

I'm a new recruit to the stay-at-home-mom world with two wee ones who keep me running.  Fortunately I'm still faster and smarter than them, but I know that won't last for long.  Hopefully I can fool them for awhile after that.  I write at Honest & Truly! about My Life.  My Story.  My Version.

A unique fact about myself that you might find surprising?  I may know how to cook now, but when I was learning, I shattered a gorgeous glass baking dish by trying to remelt some caramel on my stove.  I picked glass out of crevices in the kitchen until I moved.
