I'm a 36 year old British Literature and Creative Writing teacher and the original poster child for ADD. This will be my 14th year in the classroom and hopefully, the year I complete my first novel. More importantly, it's the year I married my Matty. I blog about writing, reading, teaching, traveling, commuting, whining, dining and living. Outside of my blog, I do those things on a daily basis. Go me. When I'm not blogging or working, I walk for fitness because running is too much of a commitment. I wear Vibram FiveFingers in an attempt to distract people from noticing my arms akimbo. Besides, it's more interesting to read about the guilt a former 60-mile-a-week-runner feels than to read about her running (and whining about) those 60 miles. I grew up in Amish Country and spend my summers on the Isle of Skye, Scotland, which means I can bale hay while dancing a Scottish ceilid. And yes, I can drive a left handed stick shift on single track road without killing a single sheep - even in pissing down rain. I obsess over grammar, mechanics, structure, relationships, laundry, planning, publishing and parenting. Parenting my cat, Miss Angelica Pinkerton, that is. She's a legend: she was hit by a car as a kitten and has no feeling in her rear end. When walking on the edge, she slides off of surfaces easily because she doesn't know where she begins or ends. Funny stuff. Yep, that's me - the gal who makes her husband build a ramp so the darn cat can access a high ledge and then turns around and judges (harshly) those who put pictures of pets on family holiday cards.
